There is little doubt that William of St Calais wanted his cathedral to outshine its English contemporaries, and to ensure that it would have a place as one of the great cathedrals of the Christian World.
Every Monday what would ordinarily be called a Pew Sheet is being uploaded to the cathedral’s website. Resources are also available on the Church of England’s website. The Site boundaries were expanded in 2008 to include Palace Green and the buildings surrounding it, many of which reflect the power, privileges and responsibilities of the Prince Bishops of Durham.
