The trail continues to Browns Pass and can be hiked as a 3-4 day backpacking trip to Kroenke Lake, Horn Fork Basin and exits at the North Cottonwood trailhead. Campsites are fairly large with plenty of space between sites. The campground offers well-spaced campsites and scenic views of the surrounding mountains. $22.00 fee per site for overnight camping. Collegiate Peaks Campground is a great camping choice west of Buena Vista in central Colorado. Collegiate Peaks campground is heavily wooded with 56 single-family campsites with the Middle Fork of Cottonwood Creek flowing along the south side. Visitors enjoy fishing and exploring local trails. After the first day we could not stomach the taste and just filtered water from the river. Nearby attractions include CKS Main Street (0.2 miles), Vicksburg (0.2 miles), and Comanche Drive In Theatre (0.2 miles). Yeah, right. Yes, it is 0.1 miles away from the center of Buena Vista. There are more places to choose from in the Buena Vista area.
